During the 2016 Springwood Summit, the community identified the streetscape enhancement and activation of Fitzgerald Avenue as one of their key priorities.
Division 1 Local Improvement Program funding has been allocated to enhancing and activating Fitzgerald Avenue. The project is co-funded with additional money from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI).
The project scope has now been finalised and construction work will begin in early March 2024.
More space will be created for pedestrians and cyclists by removing the centre median and widening the footpath.
Landscaping with new trees and shelters will be installed to provide shade and amenity, helping deliver a more vibrant and attractive urban space.
Works will generally occur between 6.30 am and 6.30 pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional night works.
Please note, we are also upgrading the shared path along Cinderella Drive (between Springwood Road and Dennis Road), and improving intersections on Dennis Road (at Cinderella Drive, Barbaralla Drive and Onak Crescent) during this time. Read more about these projects:
