Logan City Council hosted the Cultural Leaders Action Group on 15 September 2020 to provide the opportunities for Logan’s culturally and linguistically diverse leaders and Council to understand social cohesion priorities for the city.

The group identified the importance of bringing people together to share, connect and build understanding. Moving forward the group will focus on the following items;

  • Planning and hosting Welcome Dinners and small neighbourhood events (ensuring elected members are in attendance)
  • Large community event celebrating diversity in Logan at Kingston Butter Factory (e.g. events like Kaleidoscope or Eid Down Under Festival)
  • Leaders to connect with other leaders, share support and ideas (e.g. for small community events and projects)
  • City wide art installations celebrating diversity
  • Citizenship ceremonies (investigate ways to improve current citizenship ceremonies)
  • Understanding Logan's demographics and diversity
  • Engaging with Council to provide feedback and input to Council projects and priorities that impact Logan's culturally and linguistically diverse communities

We are now inviting leaders to register to be a member of the Cultural Leaders Action Group. By registering, you are committing to work with Council and other community leaders on the above actions and committing to attend quarterly meetings either in person or online (next meeting to be held in December 2020).
