The City of Logan is growing, and the way land is used and developed makes an important difference to our future. This growth is guided by the Logan Planning Scheme 2015, which tells us what types of development can happen where (e.g. houses, industry, shops) and what rules they need to follow (e.g. how high, how big, how many carparks, manage flood and fire risks, etc.). Logan City Council makes amendments to the Logan Planning Scheme to make sure it is current and reflects the expectations of our community and changing Queensland Government requirements.

Proposed amendments

We are proposing a range of changes in the form of four (4) statutory amendments to the planning scheme:

  • Health Care Service amendment – to better guide Health care services (medical centres, dental clinics etc.) and balance residential lifestyle with community access to these vital services.
  • Housing and Lot Diversity amendment – to better preserve the character of our residential areas and provide more housing choice.
  • Major Planning Scheme 2021 amendment – makes various changes to better support our lifestyle, community and economy, affecting Childcare centres, the storage and collection of waste, erosion and sediment control, alcohol and gaming, and other matters. This amendment includes some zoning changes in Cedar Vale, Chambers Flat, Cornubia, Hillcrest, Loganholme and Underwood.
  • Mixed Use Zone amendment – to provide improved certainty for residents and businesses in the Mixed use zone, Low impact industry zone and Medium impact industry zone. This amendment introduces four precincts in the Mixed use zone and includes zoning changes in Beenleigh, Berrinba, Bethania, Browns Plains, Crestmead, Eagleby, Hillcrest, Holmview, Jimboomba, Kingston, Loganholme, Slacks Creek, Underwood and Woodridge.
