Springwood is evolving, and Council wants to make sure that our public spaces for gathering and socialising are meeting the needs of residents.
Recently, Logan City Council has been working on improving linkages and walkability in Springwood. Next, we want to better understand our social infrastructure: public spaces, community facilities, and parks.
Since 2009 several strategic planning documents, such as the 2009 Greater Springwood Masterplan and more recently the 2015 Logan Planning Scheme, have discussed the creation of a civic plaza or town square in Springwood, ideally located close to community facilities.
Additionally, in a 2018 community insights assessment, the need for more public events and spaces for group activities or gatherings in Springwood was identified. A civic space could support markets, cultural events, outdoor performances and entertainment, outdoor dining or amenity for office workers and visitors.
