What do we mean by engagement?

Community engagement is a formal process where anyone who is interested in, or affected by, a Council decision is invited to tell Council what they think about it.

These decisions might be simple, like whether to change the name of a park, or complex, like what goes into a new planning scheme.

Does Council engage the community in every decision-making process?

No. Council decisions are not always open to a community engagement process. Some decisions are routine, operational or made by Council officers in the course of their duties.

Some decisions are also subject to legislation and made by Councillors or Council officers in line with the law

How do I get involved in Council decision making?

'Have Your Say' is where you can get information on where to go, what to do and how you can engage. All current projects that need input from a broad community audience are listed on the home page of Have Your Say. This is where you can contribute your thoughts and ideas.

If a project or decision is not on the Have Your Say page, you can contact Council at any time to offer feedback. Email: Council@logan.qld.gov.au Phone: 3412 3412

You can also keep up-to-date with engagement opportunities by registering to Have Your SayYou will receive a monthly e-newsletter with new project listings, outcomes, engagement events and meetings

Who can participate in Council engagement?

Anyone can participate in engagement opportunities with Logan City Council.

We look for a diverse range of ideas and expertise to contribute to the many different areas of Council who that are delivering programs and services to the Logan community. This is done to ensure that we have the depth and variety of information that contributes to a well-rounded conversation regarding particular topics.

Why would I register for Have Your Say?

Your participation in the Have Your Say’ online hub will help ensure that Council’s approach to decision-making takes into consideration feedback from the Logan community and stakeholders.

Council appreciates contributions from a broad cross-section of community opinions, ideas, local and expert knowledge. To achieve this, we encourage everyone to contribute and we review our findings to see if there are any areas or groups who might be missing from the mix.

The brief details we collect from registering participants keep us on track to representing the community expectations as closely as possible.

Registration is required for community participation in some (but not all) projects. The registration requirement is determined in consultation with Councils Community Engagement Program during the initial engagement planning process.

By registering for Have Your Say, you will also have the opportunity to contribute and participate through our monthly e-newsletter which keeps you up-to-date with current consultations, events and forums, as well as hearing about final outcomes and decisions.
