The Logan Ekka holiday currently falls on the Monday preceding the Brisbane Royal Queensland Show Holiday which falls on the Wednesday in the same week each year.

In 2020 the Brisbane City Council and Logan City Council postponed the Ekka holiday to Friday the 14th of August, with 2 months’ notice for residents. However in 2021, a last minute lockdown resulted in Brisbane City Council postponing the Ekka holiday until 29th October 2021 with Logan City Council proceeding with the Ekka holiday on Monday 9th of August.
