Logan Plan - shared vision, sustainable future
We have drafted a new plan to guide growth, development and the delivery of important infrastructure in our city, as our shared vision for a sustainable future. Logan Plan is being reviewed by the Queensland Government to ensure it aligns with the plans and policies the State Government has for our region. After that review is completed we will share our new draft plan with our community. We invite you to use the resources available here to learn more, so that you can soon have your say to help shape Logan's future.
Background
Logan is a dynamic and fast growing city, with the Queensland Government predicting our population will exceed 500,000 by 2036. As we welcome new people and opportunities, the way land is used and developed makes an important difference to how we live, work, learn, play and move around in our city.
Our planning scheme guides what types of development can happen where (e.g. houses, industry, shops) and what rules they need to follow (e.g. how high, how big, how many carparks, manage flood and fire risks, etc.). Logan Plan will keep the parts of our current planning scheme which are working well, and make improvements to align with community expectations and changing Queensland Government requirements, to deliver the best possible outcomes for our future.
Key themes
Our new draft plan focuses on five key areas:
- Managing our growth – growth where it makes sense, protecting our neighbourhoods and aligning development in expanding areas to more efficiently deliver the infrastructure and services needed to support that growth.
- Enriching lifestyles and community - providing housing choices to suit different lifestyles, needs and stages of life, and improving how we value our diversity, heritage and culture, as well as encouraging the design of attractive, functional, safe and accessible streets and places to meet the needs of our community.
- Thriving economy – improving certainty for business and investors to support jobs and opportunities for our city.
- Living with nature – protecting our waterways, green spaces and biodiversity, as well as improving our management of natural hazards like flooding, to better manage risk and keep our people, property and community safe.
- Sustainable and connected infrastructure – providing the roads, water, parks, facilities, networks and services needed to help our community prosper, in a way that is affordable and efficient.
Having your say
We will be sharing our new plan with our community so that everyone can have their say after the Queensland Government have completed their review, which we anticipate will be in late 2025.
