The draft 'Creative City: Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy 2018-2022' (the draft strategy) is available for public comment. The draft strategy supersedes the 'Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy 2014-2017' and is informed by 'Logan’s Cultural Map 2015'. The draft strategy was created in consultation with community and key stakeholders during 2017.

The draft strategy builds on the achievements of the past, includes new ideas and incorporates existing and future plans and activities across all areas of Council.

Based on consultation, the five strategic outcomes proposed are: Development, Engagement, Places and Spaces, Partnerships and Communication.

A list of actions have been developed that underpin the strategic outcomes and will be achieved through the strategy.

Why do we need a strategy full of words! Just issue a prospective list of events compiled from community feedback - cultural events based on customs, music, arts & food and monitor attendance to establish popularity in order to determine regularity. E.g A West Indian event one month, Papuan New Guinea another month etc.

I think its a great plan. We can achieve the goals together but only if we create more friendly open environment. Its not just about filling paper work or getting the project finished.. Some times there can be cultural difference and gap so its best to communicate with the other person openly keeping the background in the mind. The "W" questions are always best and helpful to clear amy doubt or confusion like what do you want? What are your expectations? What you want to create any doubt you should openly ask?
Sometime people put their 100% effort and in return they dont even get a smile back. Its better not to become or work like robort.
Never be judgemental simple things which are mistake according to you might not be mistake or exist for other person. for example - " A teacher asked me to bring a plate when my son was in grade 3 and I took an empty plate in the class. We all laughed .
In the classroom if a collegue said "There is ants in his pants" but you think oh where are the ants and you start shaking the clothes. These are not mistakes .
We love Australia and must contribute back to the society but only with unity and friendly environment we can make our Logan best.
Don't walk like a snob but talk talk and talk.

I believe this strategy embodies a contemporary approach and will nurture, support and promote Logan's unique and diverse voices.

I think we need to be careful not to be caught up in excessive political correctness in developing these strategies. In reading the document there are many buzz words and phrase trying to encompass everything. Art should be independent of politics )though there are many examples where it is not) but as a general community presentation, it should be.
We should instead concentrate on where the art (whether it be visual or audio) have the greatest influence in engaging the wider community.
I think the promotion of the various facilities such as the Art Gallery are essential in showing that Logan is a thriving modern cultural city. having said this I find it odd that the Art Gallery does not have its own independent web site.
I think initiatives such as Street beats are excellent as long as they feature a majority of Logan participants and we should see how we can encourgae more local business/entertainers to take part.
Ideally, it would be great to see how a similar concept can be developed for visual arts, taking works into the general community, shopping centres, picnic in the parks etc as a lot of people would not even know where the local library is.
