Springwood Park Masterplan

Consultation has concluded

Council is developing a conceptual masterplan for Springwood Park to complement the natural settings and its significance as a major park. This aspirational masterplan is a long-term vision that will look to incorporate improved infrastructure with the aim to increase recreational opportunities and make this a destination park. After consultation, it is intended to seek external funding to assist in the delivery of this long-term project.

A series of boardwalks, paths, lookouts and bridges, alongside the revegetated creek will create movement across the site, and connect Briggs road to Cinderella Drive, and Springwood Park to Marlane Court.

The internal road will become a one-way road with parking on either side to facilitate more parking. The area of the park fronting Cinderella Drive will be revamped with new shelters and planting, small library houses for book exchanges and a new entrance created.

The Anzac memorial will be respected and an easier Anzac gathering space created with an arbour running along the internal road.

The existing toilet will be removed and replaced closer to the road and the playground. The playground will be upgraded and will include water play elements. A natural amphitheatre will be created in the location of the removed toilet and will include a small stage. New Moreton bay fig trees will replace the non-native vegetation in the area, creating shade and the perfect backdrop for both the stage and the playground. Bird houses, possum boxes and native bee homes will enhance the natural setting.

An extension to the park along Cinderella Drive will include a dog off leash park for small and large dogs, and an exercise zone. A new urban plaza at Briggs Street will provide additional spaces for the community to meet.

Council is interested in the community’s thoughts on the masterplan design, so as funding becomes available in the future, Council could quickly act, safe in the knowledge it is working in line with community views.
