Wilbur Street Youth Centre
Wilbur Street Youth Centre - it's almost here!
Logan's first dedicated youth space, the Wilbur Street Youth Centre is almost here!
The new Council owned youth centre is located next to and in the same building as the Logan Central Library.
It is under construction and is expected to be complete in the very near future.
Internal construction is expected to be finished by July 2024, followed by some internal finishes and external works in July and August.
Vision: The Wilbur Street Youth Centre is a space for Logan’s youth between the ages of 12 and 24 years to provide a safe, welcoming, vibrant and well used space that responds to the needs and interests of all of Logan’s youth.
Objectives
- To provide a welcoming environment for youth between the ages of 12 to 24 years to meet, socialise, learn and participate.
- To provide for opportunities that are youth driven to establish uptake, promote activation, and respond to changing needs and interests over time.
- To provide an inclusive environment for youth of all abilities and cultural backgrounds.
- To provide a space that has regard for community and personal safety of young people. Young people should feel comfortable using and accessing the space from various parts of the city and at different times of the day.
A partnership project
The youth centre was developed over several stages and included:
- consultation with youth, service providers and other key stakeholders (click here for the engagement summary).
- a needs assessment that considered consultation findings, case studies, and review of other information
- a co-design process where local youth participated in a workshop to determine youth centre inclusions and design of the future youth centre.
These steps enabled us to identify expectations and aspirations for the centre, which in turn guided the design and final layout of the spacious facility.

Wilbur St Youth Centre management
At its meeting on 22 May 2024, Council resolved that the Wilbur Street Youth Centre would be managed by an external operator with a lease and contract management arrangement.
The tender for operating the Wilbur Street Youth Centre lease is now open and is advertised through Tenderlink.
Interested organisations should register with Tenderlink for free at Logan City Council- Registration (tenderlink.com).
The successful tenderer will receive $125,000 of annual operational funding from Council during the 3 year lease, as part of the contract.
