Woodlands District Park dog off-leash area

Council has developed a plan to expand the dog off-leash area at Woodland District Park, and we would like to hear your thoughts.

The proposed expansion is in response to recent feedback from park users to Division 4 Councillor Nathan St Ledger around ways to enhance the park experience for dogs and their owners.

Proposed changes

  • Divide the dog off-lease area: To accommodate all our furry friends, we will divide the existing off-leash area into two separate spaces—one for large dogs and another for small dogs.
  • Extended fencing: The existing fencing will be extended, providing additional space. Notably, the current shelter will become part of the big dog section.
  • Amenities: New drinking fountains and bins will be installed for both dogs and their owners. Additionally, a new shelter in the small dog off-leash area with comfortable seating will offer shade and rest areas.
  • Agility equipment: We plan to retain and repaint the existing dog agility equipment, ensuring entertainment and exercise opportunities.

Our off-leash areas are a place for dogs to responsibly socialise with other dogs. These public places are patrolled regularly by Council officers to ensure our community is being responsible and showing appropriate dog park manners.
