Disability Action Plan 2023-2025

We recognise that we have an important role in shaping inclusion for people living with disability who live, work and visit our city.

Consultation on the draft Disability Action Plan 2023-2025 has now closed.

Timeline:

• In June and July 2022, Council asked for community feedback on how to improve access and inclusion for people with disability in the City of Logan.
• We incorporated the voices of people with disability, their friends, families, support workers, and service providers into the draft Disability Action Plan 2023-2025.
• We invited the community to have their say on the draft plan from 15 December 2022 to 05 February 2023.
• We reviewed feedback from the community between February and March to identify if we needed any new actions.
• Key themes in the feedback included:
  • The accessibility of public infrastructure. For example, improved accessibility of Council-owned pathways, toilets, parking, pools, libraries, road crossings, bus stops.
  • More employment opportunities for people with disability within Council, and in the City of Logan more broadly.
  • Better disability awareness and inclusion in the community. For example, awareness of invisible disability, support for community groups and businesses to be more inclusive.
  • Some of the feedback was outside the scope of local government responsibilities/influence. For example, NDIS services and funding, school infrastructure, Disability Employment Services, QLD police, private business.
• Most of the feedback will be addressed by actions in the draft plan, or by business-as-usual activities.
• We included 2 x new actions in the plan.
• The Final Disability Action Plan 2023-2025 was endorsed by Council 22 March 2023.
